Mid-11th century, the Count of Greningen, nestled at the northern foot of the Alps. Friedrich had been transported there for over a decade. Originally, he only intended to be an heir to the countship, inheriting the title after his father's death and living a peaceful life. However, by chance, he became a servant to the young king and narrowly escaped death in a coup a few years later. Banished back to his territory, he was acutely aware that chaos was imminent, and even a king without power would be at the mercy of others. With his father's support, he cultivated forests, recruited artisans, established workshops, expanded his army, and quietly amassed strength. Now, the king had come of age and begun to rule personally, intending to revitalize the monarchy; princes had seized royal lands and refused to submit to the monarch; and the Church, after a century of reform, sought to break free from secular control.
